- Basenji Club Racing -

What does a sighthound love most? To run and chase!

The Basenji Club of Southeastern Wisconsin, Inc. has hosted NOTRA (National Oval Track Racing Association) racing at the Greater Racine Kennel Club.

NOTRA is an organization that promotes, certifies, and awards titles for oval track racing for sighthounds.

There are several configurations and lengths of NOTRA tracks. A 350 yard oval track has been used at the GRKC. The lure is made from an animal skin and white plastic bags. It is pulled around the track on a line using a car starter motor and pulleys.  The dogs break from 4 race boxes and run in groups of up to 4 dogs (of one breed) per race.

Past events included Afghan Hounds, Basenjis, Ibizan Hounds, Irish Wolfhounds, Italian Greyhounds, Salukis, and Silken Windhounds.

- The Pet Expo -

The GRKC builds and sponsors a booth every year at the Pet Expo, which is held at the Wisconsin State Fair grounds. This is a huge event that draws very large crowds.  It always has lots of booths for dogs, dog rescues, dog training, etc., etc.

- The GRKC Annual Banquet -

Each year, the GRKC has an Awards Banquet.  It's always a good for socializing with great people, eating good food, and playing a few fun games.  All club members are welcome to attend, and dogs (and their owners) who earned achievements are awarded well earned plaques.
